SRMG's Garrett College Program



The Adventuresports Institute (ASI) of Garrett College has teamed up with the professionals at Seneca Rocks Mountain Guides (SRMG) to create a unique educational experience. Based upon the time-honored method of learning to climb through an apprentice/mentor relationship on routes climbed in traditional style, ASI’s courses are supplemented by evening sessions in SRMG’s indoor climbing center.

ASI offers the following course progression in collaboration with Seneca Rocks Mountain Guides:

  • ASI 120 Introduction to Traditional Rock Climbing
  • ASI 121 Rock Craft 1- Multi-Pitch Foundations I
  • ASI 220 Rock Craft 2- Multi-Pitch Foundations II
  • ASI 260 Rock Craft 3- Vertical Rock Rescue
  • ASI 221 Rock Craft 4- Lead Climbing I
  • ASI 222 Rock Craft 5- Lead Climbing II
  • ASI 270 Rock Craft 6- Instructor Development (Maryland Top Rope Site Manager Certification)
